Otto M. Armleder Park is about 20 minutes east of downtown, but it offers much more room to run. It has dedicated areas for small and large dogs with tons of shade trees and benches, as well as plenty of water hoses for cleaning up muddy pups. 5057 Wooster Pike, Mt. Lookout, cincinnatiparks.com

If your pup needs tons of space, Simmonds Family Dog Park at Miami Whitewater Forest is the largest off-leash dog park in the region, at 11 acres. It has four separate fields, trees and structures for shade, and agility equipment and play zones. 8715 Hamilton- Cleves Rd., Cleves, greatparks.org
