I grew up in Northern Kentucky and have moved out of state ... and moved back to the area several times over the past few decades. I'm always amazed at how much I'm still learning and discovering about the Cincinnati region. I credit local tours for giving me new eyes and appreciation for all that our area has to offer. Here are five tours from downtown to Northern Kentucky that locals and tourists alike need to take.
Queen City Underground Tour
The Queen City Underground tour takes you into a crypt beneath a church and into a lagering tunnel that was used pre prohibition. You also learn about the history of the neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine while viewing the incredible architecture. This is a great tour for Indiana Jones fans with a sense of adventure. Newport Gangster Tour
Growing up in Northern Kentucky I had NO IDEA about how much crime and gangster activity happened before I was even born. The Newport Gangster Tour recalls the history while you walk the streets that were once heavily populated with criminal activity. Read about my gangster tour adventure.
Eden Park Segway Tour
The Eden Park Segway Tour offers scenic views and history on the rolling hills of Eden Park. You will learn about a crime that was committed here in broad daylight by a gangster back in the day, and have the opportunity to challenge your segway skills on the rolling hills in the park. Segway of Cincinnati Riverfront Tour
The Segway of Cincinnati Riverfront Tour takes you along parts of the former canal, on the Purple People Bridge and through several parks downtown with fantastic views of Cincinnati. You get history and a reflective vest. What more could you ask for? Read about my riverfront Segway tour adventure.
Cincinnati Reds Ball Park Tour
The Cincinnati Reds Ballpark Tour takes you behind the scenes at Great American Ball Park where the Cincinnati Reds play. You will hear stories behind the design of the stadium and also go to areas of the ballpark that are not open to the public. This tour is perfect for baseball fans and is still enjoyable if you are not an avid baseball fan. Read about my ballpark tour adventure.
