Cincinnati Civil War Round Table

$27 for dinner & speaker, $7 for just speaker

Dates and Times

The Cincinnati Civil War Roundtable is hosting author and historian Michael Coker at their Sept 17 meeting. The lecture is on Coker’s book, the History Press publication “The Battle of Port Royal”. The book focuses on events that took place during the American Civil War in the fall of 1861. The largest fleet ever assembled by the United States at that point in history set its sights on Hilton Head, on the South Carolina coast, for a much-needed victory. On November 7, 1861, this mighty weapon of war engaged two undermanned and outgunned forts in a clash called the Battle of Port Royal. Coker’s book and lecture tells the story of this largely forgotten battle which was a pivotal turning point in the war that defined our nation. The event on the 17th begins at Raffel’s Banquet facilities on Reading Road in Evendale. Sign-in is at 5:30 PM, dinner starts at 6:30 PM and program begins at 7:15 PM meeting. Cost is $27 for dinner and lecture or $7 just for speaker’s presentation. Reservations can be made via the Cincinnati Civil War Roundtable website at or by calling 513-310-9553. Masks are required and proper social distancing observed. The Cincinnati Civil War Round Table (CCWRT), a 501 (C) 3 not-for-profit organization, is a group of men and women from the Greater Cincinnati area dedicated to the study and understanding of the American Civil War. Membership includes both the novice and the expert, all of whom share an interest in the Round Table’s focus on education and preservation activities related to the American Civil War period. The CCWRT meets eight times per year and have featured speaker at each meeting. The CCWRT is one of more than 100 Civil War Round Tables that exist throughout the United States.
