Generations that grew up visiting Downtown Cincinnati to see the Elves as part of their annual tradition can now introduce a new generation to the much loved, hardworking elves. The Shillito’s Elves first made their appearance in the 1950s and have been set up several places. Findlay Market is thrilled to be the newest home to the Cincinnati icon. The Shillito’s Elves will be displayed facing out, so market shoppers and visitors can walk around to view them 6 days per week during market hours (Tuesday-Friday, 9 A.M.-6 P.M., Saturday 8 A.M.-6 P.M., Sunday 10 A.M.-4 P.M.). They will be animated on weekends.
Though they are not the full collection of the original Shillito’s Elves, the 6 displays will be a wonderful tribute to the original setup. Viewers will get to enjoy the following scenes: Mail Sorter, Little Woodshop, Pete the Painter, Lazzie Bear and Gift Wrap, Elves at Home and Bedtime Elves.
In addition to visiting the Elves, Findlay Market will have robust programming in the space, appropriately called Elves on Elder.
Elves on Elder – Daytime Programming
Each Saturday and Sunday from 10 A.M. until 3 P.M., Findlay Market and Cincinnati Bell will host family friendly activities, programming and special events inside of the space. All activities are free for children, though space is limited. Cincinnati Bell will have an entire side called Imagination Destination, which is part of their “Imagine the Possibilities” campaign, celebrating their positive work in the community for nearly 150 years.
