About

Kick off the New Year with the January Live Reading Series Event. This session’s topic is Mental Health featuring readings from experts Sarah Anne Strickley and Dr. Navdeep Kang. Sarah Anne Strickley is the author of the short story collection, Fall Together (Gold Wake Press, 2018). She’s a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing fellowship, an Ohio Arts grant, a Glenn Schaeffer Award from the International Institute of Modern Letters, and other honors. Her stories and essays have appeared in Oxford American, A Public Space, Witness, Gulf Coast, The Normal School, and elsewhere. She’s a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and earned her PhD from the University of Cincinnati. She teaches creative writing and serves as faculty editor of Miracle Monocle at the University of Louisville. She lives in Kentucky with her husband, writer Ian Stansel, and their daughters.

Dr. Navdeep Kang (Psy.D., HSP, CGP) is a clinical psychologist and native of Cincinnati recently selected by the Obama Foundation for its inaugural Fellowship class of civic innovators from around the world. Prior to his current role, Dr. Kang served as the Clinical Director for a 70-bed residential facility in Cincinnati during a turnaround phase of program development. Now, as the Director of Operations for Behavioral Health for the Cincinnati Region of Mercy Health, Dr. Kang is charged with ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to behavioral health patients across the continuum. He enjoys program development and evaluation under the full umbrella of “behavioral health,” including specialty mental health services, addiction treatment, and health-behavior change and chronic disease management.

A Q&A with the presenters will follow. Light refreshments will be served at this FREE event.
